How To Open The Console In Google Chrome

You can access the console in Google Chrome two ways: using a keyboard shortcut, or through the browser menu.

Keyboard Method

PC: Control, Shift, and J

Mac: Command, Option, and J

Menu Method

From the button in the top right-hand corner of your browser (3 vertical dots), hover over More Tools. You’ll then see a drop-down menu where you can select Developer Tools.

This will open a window at the side of your screen. Select the Console tab.


How To Open The Console In Internet Explorer

Keyboard Method

Hit F12 (and then select the Console tab).

Menu Method

Click the cog icon in the top right-hand corner of your browser and select F12 Developer Tools.

In the window that appears, select the Console tab.


How To Open The Console In Mozilla Firefox

Keyboard Method

PC: Control, Shift, and K

Mac: Command, Option, and K

Menu Method

From the button in the top right-hand corner of your browser (3 horizontal lines), select Developer (wrench symbol).

In the pop-up menu, select Web Console.


How To Open The Console In Apple Safari

Keyboard Method

Command, Option, and C

Menu Method

From the top left-hand corner of your screen, select Safari (next to the Apple logo). In the drop down menu, select Preferences…

In the pop-up window, select the furthest right tab Advanced.

At the bottom of the Advanced window, you will see the option Show Develop menu in menu bar. Tick this.

Close the pop-up window. Now, along the menu bar at the top of the screen, you will see the word Develop. Click this. In the drop-down menu, you’ll see the option Show Error Console. Click this to open the console.
